Investment Story

Windar Photonics company logo – LiDAR wind sensor manufacturer

Origin

Founded in 2008 by CEO Jørgen Korsgaard Jensen, Windar Photonics listed on AIM in 2015. A key distribution agreement with Vestas Service in 2018, and receipt of the first Vestas orders in 2021, provided the platform from which the business has since successfully grown. The Company operates and manufactures from Copenhagen, Denmark, with sales representation in the USA, Canada, Europe and China.

Proposition

Targeting the retrofit turbine market, Windar’s solutions can:

  • Deliver 2-4% turbine performance improvement
  • Extend turbine lifespan
  • Generate a return for customers after just two years
  • Work across multiple turbine platforms

Market Opportunity

There are over 500,000 wind turbines in operation worldwide. Windar has 1,600 units in operation (2025) and is experiencing a step-change in demand globally. Awareness of Windar’s success – particularly on Vestas V82 turbines, where it has captured over 20% of the US market – has helped drive test orders on several turbine platforms in Europe, Japan and China.

Expanded Offering

The launch of the Nexus software platform in mid-2024 represented the first step of the strategy to expand Windar’s offering by selling not only hardware and upfront software licenses but also a wider range of turbine management software solutions. This strategy provides the Group with the ability to achieve growth through a predictable recurring revenue model.

Scalable Platform

In 2025, the Company relocated to a new manufacturing facility, increasing capacity fivefold and establishing a strong foundation for long-term growth. Following successful fundraises in 2024, the Company now has a solid balance sheet to support continued investment. The team also expanded significantly in 2025, with the introduction of a new Advisory Board and a strengthened sales team.
